For new students, this is the first of many final exam weeks to come. Are you prepared? If the answer is no, don’t fret because there is still time. Ten days to be exact, but who’s counting.
So as the clock counts down to the first day of finals the pressure to get going starts and procrastination sets in.
If you find yourself Sunday night just starting to crack open those books … first of all, take a breathe and get organized.
Get some healthy snacks (like fruit, peanuts and crackers) and water to keep you going. It is important to keep focused, but stay healthy and be mentally prepared for work.
Get rid of all distractions. That means to “logoff” of Facebook, put down the computer game controller, push pause on the movie and say goodnight to friends.
Lastly, it is good to take a break every once in a while to regroup.
Good luck.

Cortaca is a big event and tradition at Ithaca College. It is the football game that every student, facutly and staff member, a part of the college, should attend. The tradition has dates back years as a rivalry between Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland, in which the two football teams play for possession of the Cortaca Jug. The event is an all-day affair. Students wake up early to begin the celebration and get a good parking spot to tailgate. This year the Bombers won for the third year in a row!

The semester classes are winding down and so is your bank account. Weekend adventures and campus late night orders are to blame. The only way to keep this lifestyle up next semester is to get a job and the campus offers a lot of opportunities.
Anything from working shifts in the dinning hall to sitting in the library answering questions or even working on the college paper.
This may not be the greatest job you have ever had, but it offers extra spending money to have fun with on homework and study breaks.
A few on campus jobs include: the dining hall, The Ithacan, the Library, the rock climbing wall, the gym, the admissions office and many more. Visit here to search Ithaca College’s job database.

Thanksgiving break is right around the corner and that means that most of us are heading home! As high school juniors and seniors you may remember having an Ithaca College counselor at your high school or maybe you had the unique experience of having a student ambassador come to your school and give a presentation.
Student ambassador opportunities are great for many reasons. For one they look great on your resume, but you are also helping spread the word about IC and all the great programs that we have. You’re able to give high school students the real deal on what it’s like here at Ithaca and they feel more at ease with you!
Becoming a student ambassador is simple and easy! If you are interested in becoming an ambassador for Thanksgiving or Winter Break simply e-mail mbowman@ithaca.edu for more information. Happy recruiting!

The semester is only five weeks away from being over and next week is the week when we register for our classes for the spring semester. Congratulations to all the freshmen at IC as well as everywhere else! You’ve finished your first semester of college! Now you face the challenge of assembling your spring semester class schedule and well, you may be confused on where to go from here.
I recommend that you check out Schedulizer, it is an easy way to look at courses as well as generating all possible schedules with the courses you select. When it comes to the actual courses, be sure to always look at the requirements for your major. Those can be found in the book of courses given to you at orientation, online, or simply by asking your adviser. Make sure to meet with your adviser BEFORE scheduling so you can get some insight from them on what you should be doing. If you’re lost or confused they are the people to talk to!
As far as the classes that you pick, while it is important that you stay on task you should take a class that you want to take for your own interest, for fun, or that just catches your eye. That way you have a class that you can always look forward to!
